President Lai Ching-te Accuses Taiwanese Media of Collaborating with China to Defame Legislator Shen Boyang
In response to allegations against Legislator Shen Boyang's father of making illegal profits, President Lai Ching-te voiced support for Shen during the Democratic Progressive Party's (DPP) Central Committee meeting and condemned the Hong Kong-based media outlets, Ta Kung Pao and Wen Wei Po, for their defamation.
Lai criticized these media for working in coordination with certain Taiwanese outlets to portray Shen as a corrupt businessman. He highlighted this as part of China's broader strategy to undermine Taiwan's democracy and social cohesion.
He warned that if such behaviors go unchecked, it could eventually harm all citizens. Lai called on Taiwanese media and political parties to remain vigilant, asserting that political competition should not come at the expense of national integrity and democracy.
