Challenges Faced by KMT in Recall of Wu Pei-yi as Support Grows

The Kuomintang's (KMT) initiative to recall Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) legislator Wu Pei-yi is progressing slower than expected, facing unexpected challenges. KMT legislator Chung Hsiao-ping revealed that even KMT-appointed village chiefs are supporting Wu, complicating the recall effort. Chung has urged the party's central committee to include loyalty to the party in the assessment criteria for village chiefs.
A civil group opposing the recall held a seminar in Wanhua, although prominent figures were invited, the event was poorly attended, with fewer than 20 residents present. Chung pointed out that the KMT is struggling with a lack of signatures for the recall, and some speakers insinuated that volunteers promoting the recall are motivated by financial gain.

Chung emphasized that loyalty and support for the party should be a crucial part of the evaluation standards. As the situation currently stands, the KMT is encountering various difficulties in its anti-recall efforts, and future developments must be observed closely.
