Zhu Lilun Launches 'Patriot Action' Against Recall Campaign, Yu Beichen Suggests Renaming to 'Obstacle Makers'

As the recall action against blue legislators in Taiwan heads into the voting stage, Kuomintang chairman Zhu Lilun announced yesterday (11th) the launch of a 'Patriot Action' to counter the large-scale recall. Taoyuan City Councilor Yu Beichen questioned whose country Zhu refers to when speaking of 'patriotism.' He bluntly stated that the 'love' in 'Patriot Action' should be changed to 'obstacle,' arguing that not recalling these blue legislators obstructs 'the security and development of the Republic of China.'

Facing the imminent third phase of the recall, Zhu Lilun asserted that the Kuomintang must enter a 'combat state' and work with blue camp mayors to strategize. New Taipei City Councilor Zhuo Guanting criticized in the program 'Taiwan Forward' that Zhu Lilun has only been exchanging names over the past few months, from 'using recall to counter recall' to 'using referendums to balance recalls,' and now proposing 'Patriot Action'—essentially just 'changing the soup but not the medicine.' Zhuo believes that Zhu Lilun wants to shift his responsibilities onto local party leaders, adding that 'if he were not selfish, he would have apologized directly.' Such actions only provoke public disdain.

Hearing this, Yu Beichen lamented that every time the Kuomintang introduces new measures, they only shout 'combat slogans' without offering any tactics or strategies, perpetually relying on 'adjectives.' For Zhu Lilun’s 'Patriot Action,' Yu Beichen finds it quite ironic, as these blue legislators do not actually love the Republic of China and seem unclear about which country's position they stand for. He further questioned, 'Is there anyone in the blue camp who dares to speak out against the Communist Party?' Yu Beichen concluded that the so-called 'Patriot Action' lacks discourse and is vague, suggesting it should be renamed 'Obstacle Makers' to prevent these 'obstructing the nation' legislators from hindering the country’s safety and development.
