Iran Withdraws from Nuclear Talks with the US, Defying Trump’s Threats

The Iranian government officially announced on the evening of the 13th that it will not participate in the sixth round of nuclear talks with the US scheduled for the 15th in Oman, until further notice. The picture shows Iranian missile data.

Israel launched a large-scale airstrike against Iran in the early hours of the 13th, targeting several Iranian military leaders, nuclear facilities, and nuclear scientists. President Trump urged Iran to quickly reach an agreement on nuclear talks, warning that Israel's attacks would become 'more brutal.'

In response, the Iranian government emphasized that any negotiations are now meaningless. According to Mohammad Eslami, a researcher from Tehran University, it is unlikely that Iranian authorities will quickly resume nuclear talks with the US after formally announcing their withdrawal from this weekend’s negotiations in Oman. Eslami believes that the Israeli attacks have thoroughly destroyed the diplomatic solutions being pursued between Iran and the US and, from Iran's perspective, these attacks appear to have received American support, diminishing Iran's motivation to return to the negotiating table.

Earlier, Trump had also warned Iran it must finalize a nuclear agreement with the US, abandoning its nuclear ambitions completely, or face dire consequences.
