Metropolitan Museum of Art Masterpieces Exhibition Comes to Taiwan Featuring 81 Original Works!

The exhibition titled 'From Impressionism to Modernism - Masterpieces from the Metropolitan Museum of Art' opens on June 14 at the National Palace Museum's Northern Branch in the second exhibition hall. It is a collaboration between the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the National Palace Museum, organized alongside with Time Arts Media and sponsored by Cathay Financial Holdings. EVA Air is also involved in the air transportation of 81 original paintings.

The opening press conference held on June 13 included notable guests such as President Lai Ching-te, the Director of AIT, Mr. William Brent Christensen, and the Chairperson of Taipei 101, Ms. Judy Chou, who recorded a guided audio tour for the exhibition. This event marks the first overseas exhibition of key collections from the Metropolitan Museum and coincides with the centennial of the National Palace Museum, giving it significant meaning as the first international exhibition since the opening of the new exhibition hall.

This exhibition showcases classic works from 38 artists spanning from the mid-19th century to mid-20th century, including masterpieces by Van Gogh, Matisse, Seurat, Pissarro, and women artists such as Mary Cassatt and Berthe Morisot. The artworks are categorized into five major themes: 'Body Posture,' 'Portraits and Figures,' 'Wandering in Nature,' 'From City to Countryside,' and 'Waterfront Landscapes,' allowing visitors to explore how artists responded to societal changes and pursued aesthetic ideals through their work.

The exhibition runs until October 12 and is a must-see for art enthusiasts.
