A shooting incident with suspected political motives occurred in Minnesota, USA. On the 14th, Governor Tim Walz announced in shock that Democrat House Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark had been intentionally shot dead this morning. State Senator John Hoffman and his wife Yvette were also shot multiple times and were urgently hospitalized, with their conditions now stable.

Governor Walz described the shocking event as a "politically motivated assassination." He expressed his sorrow, stating, "This is an unimaginable tragedy; Minnesota has lost a great leader, and I have lost a dear friend." The police received reports of the attack at 2 AM local time, and about an hour and a half later, they received another report. When they arrived at Representative Hortman’s residence, they found her and her husband had tragically died.

The investigation revealed that the suspect may have posed as a police officer and escaped after exchanging gunfire with approaching law enforcement. Currently, police and the FBI are conducting a large-scale manhunt, focusing on apprehending the suspect.

The governor emphasized that this is a "highly targeted act of political violence" and condemned the use of violence to resolve political differences, asserting that the foundation of American democracy is peaceful dialogue. He also noted that the state government is closely collaborating with federal units to launch a comprehensive investigation, ensuring that the perpetrators will face justice.

In addition, the White House responded immediately, with President Trump’s spokesperson Karoline Leavitt stating on X that he had been briefed on the horrifying shooting in Minnesota, which was evidently a deliberate attack on state legislators. Our Attorney General Merrick Garland and the FBI have begun investigations and will prosecute all involved persons. Such horrific violence is intolerable in America.
