Why Israel Chose This Moment to Strike Iran? Ex-Ambassador Reveals 'America's Weakest Time'

On the 13th, Israel launched a large-scale airstrike against Iran, drawing international attention. Footage shows an Iranian oil facility still burning and smoking on the 15th after the Israeli attack. U.S. President Trump stated on Truth Social that America is 'not involved in Israel's attacks on Iran tonight' and warned Tehran not to drag the U.S. into the conflict. Former New Zealand representative Kai Wenji emphasized that with Iranian allies Syria and Hezbollah severely weakened, and the U.S. busy with the Russia-Ukraine conflict and trade wars, Israel seized the opportunity to strike.

Kai Wenji, speaking on 'International Straight Ball Duel', asserted that Israel's targets in the bombings were military facilities, primarily focusing on nuclear weapons. The first and second waves of attacks have met some objectives, and naturally, Israel would cease once its goals are reached. Iran lacks the capability to attack Israeli territory, and over the past year, its allies have been significantly weakened, reducing Iran's projection power abroad.

Kai further explained that Syria has been effectively neutralized, with power now divided among Turkey, the U.S., and Israel. This has ended the military threat posed by the 'Shia Crescent' stretching from Syria to Hezbollah in Lebanon. He noted that for a country to exert overseas influence, it needs proxies, and with most of Iran's proxies weakened, this is also a motivating factor for Israel's decision to act. He believes Israel has seized a strong opportunity, leveraging past influences in Gaza, strong support from the U.S., and the resolution of situations in Syria and Lebanon.

However, he acknowledged that a significant hurdle for Israel was the U.S., as Netanyahu is dissatisfied with President Biden's policies that aim to prevent direct Israeli attacks on Iran due to fears of being drawn into the conflict. Trump had claimed no U.S. president has ever been better for Israel than him, capturing Netanyahu's favor. Kai Wenji pointed out that the current challenges facing the U.S., including the Russia-Ukraine war and domestic issues, present Israel with a window of opportunity when the U.S. is at its weakest, leading them to strike directly.
