King Fahd International Airport: The World's Largest Aviation Hub Faces New Competition

The world’s largest airport, King Fahd International Airport, located in Saudi Arabia, spans 780 square kilometers, larger than Singapore. It has been in operation since 1999 and is expected to serve over 10 million passengers annually.
However, in 2024, the Dubai government plans to construct a new terminal at Al Maktoum International Airport, aiming to build the largest airport in the world. The investment is projected to be around $35 billion, with the first phase expected to be completed by 2034. This terminal will include 400 boarding gates and five parallel runways, significantly expanding Dubai's aviation capacity.
