Golf: Yoo Songgyu Takes Lead at Korea Open
This year’s Kolon Korea Open presented by ELORD was held at La Vie Est Belle Golf Club, featuring the challenging Dunes Course, comparable to the U.S. Open. Korean golfer Yoo Songgyu performed remarkably, shooting rounds of 68 and 67 for a total of 135, seven under par, taking the lead.
After 36 holes, Yoo only dropped three shots, recording one bogey on the second hole but following it up with five birdies. Thai golfer Poom Saksansin improved from 69 to 68, closely pursuing behind.
The tournament on Sunday will offer two spots for the British Open, raising expectations for Yoo's performance. Despite his world ranking at 1914, he may still create a surprise. Yoo stated, “Every time I come here, I feel I can play well, though the other course here is even tougher.”
