US Transfers 20,000 Missiles to Israel, Zelensky Warns Ukraine Faces Severe Setback

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky recently confirmed that the US government has redirected 20,000 anti-drone missiles originally intended for Ukraine to the US military, which will intensify Ukraine's difficulties in countering the Russian drone offensive.
Zelensky pointed out that amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, the batch of anti-air missiles meant to intercept Iranian-made "Shahed" drones has been reallocated by the Trump administration, which has raised his concerns. He urged Western allies to promptly provide air defense weapons, particularly the American-made Patriot system, to help counter the increasing air assaults.
“This is undoubtedly a severe blow to us!” Zelensky expressed frustration, adding, “When you face 300 to 400 drones every day, although most will be shot down or veer off course, some will inevitably break through. The gap in interception capabilities will lead to significant losses! We had high hopes for these air defense missiles, as they are equipped with special technology for countering drones.”
Furthermore, it was noted that Russia is accelerating the production and deployment of drones, potentially able to launch over 500 in one night in the future. Zelensky also mentioned that the conflict between Israel and Iran has led to sharply rising global oil prices, consequently enabling Russia to gain higher revenue from oil exports, further bolstering military action against Ukraine. He plans to discuss the issue with President Trump at the upcoming G7 summit, where he will attend from the 15th to the 17th.
