Taichung Fire Chief Visits Tokyo Fire Department to Strengthen International Disaster Prevention Cooperation

The Fire Chief of Taichung City, Sun Fu-You, led a delegation to visit the Tokyo Fire Department and its Tachikawa and Ikebukuro Disaster Prevention Centers to learn from Japan's advanced firefighting and disaster prevention education systems and to promote exchange between firefighting agencies in Taiwan and Japan.
During the visit, the Tokyo Fire Department's Commissioner, Yoshida Yoshimi, received the delegation, facilitating discussions on enhancing public disaster awareness and the application of new technologies in disaster education. Chief Sun noted that the Tokyo Fire Department is one of the largest urban fire agencies globally, with an excellent disaster management training system and advanced technology.
The delegation also toured the Tachikawa and Ikebukuro Disaster Prevention Centers, which feature interactive disaster prevention experiences, including simulated earthquakes and fires, as well as escaping smoke scenarios and fire extinguishing training using new 4D virtual reality technology. Chief Sun hopes to bring these successful experiences back to Taichung to strengthen disaster prevention education and training capabilities, ultimately creating a safer urban environment.
