Chinese Coast Guard Vessels Intrude into Kinmen Waters Again, Coast Guard Responds

From June 19 to 20, 2025, Taiwan's Coast Guard dispatched patrol boats to broadcast warnings and drive away Chinese Coast Guard vessels that intruded into Kinmen waters in response to gray zone tactics. In just these two days, the Chinese military not only sent over 70 aircraft and 6 ships to the Taiwan Strait area but also repeatedly intruded into Kinmen.
According to the Coast Guard, on the morning and afternoon of June 19, four Chinese Coast Guard ships—numbered 14609, 14606, 14521, and 14529—formed up and entered Taiwan's restricted waters, subsequently sailing out at 11 AM and 5 PM. On June 20 at 3 PM, the same four vessels entered the restricted waters again from the east of Kinmen's Tianpu, prompting the Coast Guard to immediately respond with patrol boats to collect evidence and issue radio broadcasts in both Chinese and English requesting their withdrawal.
Since February 19, 2024, Chinese Coast Guard fleets have intruded into Kinmen waters 76 times, posing a continuous threat to Taiwan. The Coast Guard stated it will keep monitoring the activities of the Chinese Coast Guard and adhere to the principle of 'no retreat and no avoidance' while steadfastly safeguarding national sovereignty to ensure security.
