Rumors Surrounding Xi Jinping's Health Amidst Internal Struggles in the CCP

Professor Ming Ju-cheng from National Taiwan University analyzed the political situation in the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) on the program "After Work Chatting" by Wind Media. He noted that numerous rumors regarding General Secretary Xi Jinping's health have surfaced, many of which stem from the internal factional struggles within the CCP.
Reports suggest that Xi may be experiencing health issues, with suggestions of a possible stroke circulating. Professor Ming believes these rumors indicate power struggles as rivals seek to undermine Xi's leadership, especially given that within the Chinese system, health issues can lead to succession ambitions.
He also highlighted that Xi had previously suffered a minor stroke and has had several public absences in recent years. Notably, in March this year, he appeared visibly distressed while taking traditional Chinese medicine, signaling serious health concerns.
Regarding the potential for internal power grabs, Ming asserted that if the CCP begins internal strife, it will not have the resources or focus to address Taiwan. He referenced Mao Zedong's later years when the internal power struggles allowed Taiwan to remain stable, as the CCP's focus shifted after the struggles subsided.
Furthermore, Ming pointed out that beyond health issues, many believe Xi's more than a decade in power has been marked by significant policy failures, particularly in economic management, leading to dissatisfaction among the princeling factions, which feel Xi has not catered to them effectively.
