U.S. Claims Major Blow to Iran's Nuclear Facilities; Pence Says Trump Seeks Diplomatic Solution

U.S. Vice President Mike Pence stated on Sunday that the U.S. has successfully disrupted Iran's nuclear weapons program, adding that President Trump is now looking for a diplomatic solution. In an interview with NBC, he emphasized, "We don’t want this to drag on, and we don’t want the situation to worsen further. We want to terminate their nuclear program."
Pence added, "We want to engage with the Iranians for a long-term solution to this issue." According to Defense Secretary Mark Esper, the U.S. attack on Iran has been long in the works.
Esper indicated during a press conference that, "This plan required weeks or months of preparation so we could be ready to strike once the President ordered it." He characterized the airstrikes from last night as an "incredible overwhelming victory," marking a "precision strike" against three Iranian nuclear facilities.
Esper continued, "We have dealt a devastating blow to Iran's nuclear program." Reports from the U.S. military indicate that 14 bunker-busting bombs were used in the strike, involving approximately 75 precision-guided munitions, alongside the deployment of over 125 aircraft, making it the largest operational assault launched by B-2 bombers to date.
