Tragic Truck Accident Claims Life of 18-Year-Old Cyclist in Taipei, Mother Appeals for Dashcam Footage

A tragic traffic accident occurred yesterday afternoon (21st) near the Zhongxiao Xinsheng Metro Station in Taipei, where a 77-year-old truck driver collided with three motorcycles, resulting in the death of an 18-year-old female cyclist. The victim's mother is pleading for witnesses to provide dashcam footage, as her daughter had stated before leaving home that she was just going out to buy something, which turned out to be her final words.
According to reports, the young cyclist was a nursing student, and her mother has since shared pictures online, asking for dashcam footage of the incident. Many social media users criticized the driver after viewing the footage, asserting that the driver had no intention to stop. The driver was released on bail of 150,000 TWD in the evening.
During a police investigation, it was revealed that the driver had been operating a tow truck for over 20 years, claiming he felt unwell that morning, which may have affected his driving. The police are investigating potential charges of negligent homicide and fleeing the scene, while the victim's family hopes for justice.
