Last Hope for Blue Camp? Second Phase for the Recall of Green Legislator Li Kun-Cheng Hits Target; Song Jianliang to Submit Documents Tomorrow

As the recall petition progresses, the previously 31 to 0 balance between the blue and green camps is about to shift. Li Kun-Cheng, from the New Taipei City San Chong District of the Democratic Progressive Party, is poised to enter the voting phase. Today (22nd), the head of the recall initiative, Song Jianliang, announced that the second phase of the petition has reached the required threshold and is currently being hastily compiled for submission to the New Taipei City Election Committee tomorrow.
According to the Central Election Commission's data, a total of 26,576 signatures are required for Li Kun-Cheng’s recall, which must be submitted before the 23rd. If reviewed without issues, the process will move on to the third stage of voting. Song Jianliang stated on the social media platform Threads, "We are rapidly compiling 27,000 signatures! Tomorrow marks the moment we raise our banner and stride toward victory!" He expressed gratitude to all the loyal supporters involved in gathering signatures.
Additionally, he thanked local leaders and associates for their assistance and emphasized the significant role of community support in the recall effort. Song Jianliang criticized Legislator Li’s policies, urging citizens to react to issues that compromise national interests.
