Dali University Culinary Arts Students Shine at Seoul Culinary Challenge

Students from Dali University's Department of Hospitality Management and Baking Program recently participated in the Seoul Culinary Challenge, a competition officially recognized by the World Association of Chefs Societies (WACS). Facing off against 650 competitors from eight countries including Taiwan, South Korea, China, Thailand, the Philippines, and Australia, the university’s participants achieved impressive results with 2 gold, 1 silver, 5 bronze, and 3 commendations.
Under the guidance of Assistant Professor Tsai Chen-Chang, first-year student Nian Cheng-Chieh won a gold medal for his creative macaron, while other students like Yeh Wei-Yu and Yang Zhi-Ying earned bronze in pastry display and decorative desserts, respectively.
Third-year student Zhong Yao-Ching clinched a gold medal for live cooking of Western-style chicken dishes, showcasing a multi-layered chicken roll and a white wine cream chicken dish. He dedicated four months to practice and discussions with Professor Peng Jian-Zhi to refine his technique.
Through this competition, students not only honed their skills but also gained valuable insights from observing peers from various countries. Professor Peng emphasized that the excellent accomplishments reflect the students' hard work and dedication.
