New Dad Packs Mother-in-Law's Bags, Earns Title of 'Best Husband of the Year'

A 28-year-old new dad in the U.S. decided to pack his mother-in-law's bags and ask her to leave their home during the early hours, in order to protect his wife, who just gave birth. The father shared his story on the online forum Reddit, stating that his 29-year-old wife recently gave birth to their "rainbow baby" a week and a half ago.
The couple had initially agreed not to host too many visitors in the early postpartum phase, but the mother-in-law arrived a few days later. Although the relationship between mother and daughter is not close, they reluctantly allowed her to stay for a few days, under the impression that she would help out. However, the mother-in-law began to interfere with their daily lives, criticizing the wife's breastfeeding methods and questioning their takeout-only meals.
Despite observing his wife's discontent, the new dad chose not to confront her mother directly until one night, when his wife broke down in tears during a private conversation. That prompted him to act: he quietly packed his mother-in-law's bags while the family was asleep and told her she could no longer stay, as it was causing his wife too much stress. Although the mother-in-law refused his arrangements, she eventually left on her own. The new father later confessed everything to his wife, who surprisingly felt relieved by his actions. Many netizens praised his decisiveness, calling him the "Best Husband of the Year."
