President Lai Attends European Dinner, Thanks EU for Supporting Peace in Taiwan Strait

President Lai Ching-te attended the '2025 European Dinner' tonight (29th), expressing gratitude to European countries for their continued support of peace in the Taiwan Strait. He emphasized that in facing the threats of the red supply chain, Taiwan will collaborate with democratic countries like Europe to build a 'non-red supply chain' and reiterated the desire to promote the signing of a 'Taiwan-EU Economic Partnership Agreement.'
In his speech at the dinner, President Lai reaffirmed the warming relationship between Taiwan and Europe, noting that Europe is Taiwan's third-largest trading partner and the largest source of foreign investment, calling for further efforts to push for signing the economic partnership agreement.
He pointed out that cooperation between Taiwan and Europe will play a key role in restructuring the global democratic supply chain and presented the 'Global Semiconductor Democratic Supply Chain Partnership Initiative' to enhance economic cooperation and share values.
This year marks the 80th anniversary of the end of the European War, and President Lai stressed the continued strengthening of partnerships with democratic allies in Europe, thanking them for their strong support of peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait. He expressed gratitude on behalf of all Taiwanese people to the EU and European countries for their concrete actions supporting peace and stability.
