While attending an event titled “Against Bullying and Dictatorship,” Chu expressed disappointment in Lai's respect for the recall motion, emphasizing that dialogue is necessary to resolve disputes. He criticized Lai for a lack of willingness to foster 'harmony' and communication throughout the past year, pointing out that with more significant difficulties during Chen Shui-bian's era, solutions were still found.
