Hsu Chih-Chiang Calls for Space for Lu Shiu-Yen's Potential Chairmanship Run

The Kuomintang (KMT) is set to hold elections for its party chair this year, with Taichung Mayor Lu Shiu-Yen reportedly considering a run. Former Taichung Mayor Hsu Chih-Chiang expressed today (25th) that he hopes everyone will give Lu more space to consider the decision, asserting that she will think carefully and not make a hasty choice.
During a book launch event, when asked about KMT Chairman Zhu Lilun's absence, Hsu mentioned that while there was an invitation, Zhu might be occupied with anti-recall campaigns. He emphasized that even with many invitations, attendance isn't guaranteed, and he recognizes his limited political influence.
Regarding whether he would encourage Lu Shiu-Yen to run for chairman, Hsu stated that he would wait for her willingness to discuss this matter, expressing his readiness to communicate with her when she is ready. He urged patience and urged everyone to give her some space. Hsu also commented on the KMT's challenging situation, suggesting that sometimes bold moves are necessary to help the party survive.
