First Boeing 787 Crash of Indian Airlines: Only One Survivor Among 242 Passengers

On 12th, an Indian Airlines Boeing 787-8 flight numbered AI171 crashed near Ahmedabad Airport. The flight carried 242 people, and unfortunately, only one has been reported as a survivor while the status of others looks grim. Former pilot and handsome captain James has remarked, "Never fly on Indian Airlines!"

James mentioned his extensive experience flying in India and that he frequently operated from Ahmedabad Airport where the accident occurred. After reviewing footage of the crash, he noted that the landing gear was still deployed, suggesting that the potential cause of the accident could have been a dual engine failure leading to loss of power and subsequent crash.

The Indian Directorate General of Civil Aviation confirmed the aircraft had 230 passengers, 10 crew members, and 2 pilots on board. The captain had accumulated 8,200 hours of flight experience while the co-pilot had 1,100 hours. As of now, local rescue teams have recovered 204 bodies, and a miraculous survivor, 40-year-old British father Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, managed to escape the aircraft on his own and was fully conscious.

The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation, but this incident is viewed as the first aviation disaster since the launch of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
