Chinese Man Claims He Smuggled into Taiwan by Rubber Boat, Sparks Controversy

A Chinese man claimed to have smuggled himself into Taoyuan using a rubber boat and planted a five-star flag on the shore, later returning to China. However, netizens raised questions about his journey, doubting that he actually landed on the island. The Coast Guard stated that they are investigating the event while also looking into ways to enhance their detection capabilities for small vessels.

The individual, identified as 'Shandong Kai Ge', posted videos on Douyin claiming that he received instructions in a dream to successfully reach Taiwan's waters and planted the Chinese Communist flag. The videos sparked debate, with many doubting their authenticity, suggesting that he might have filmed the footage on a beach in China without actually crossing to Taiwan.

'Shandong Kai Ge' even provided satellite coordinates, claiming he departed from Fujian and took nine hours to reach what he referred to as Taiwan. However, netizens in Taiwan pointed out that he showed no signs of sunburn, and it's implausible that he could take selfies without being dehydrated under such circumstances.

The Coast Guard noted that the small size of rubber boats makes them difficult to detect by radar and is currently seeking funding to establish more effective monitoring equipment.
