Two Female Students Rescued After Being Deceived to Work in Cambodia, Safely Return to Taiwan!

The Criminal Investigation Bureau confirmed that two female students have safely returned to Taiwan on the evening of the 7th. The students, hailing from Taichung City, had previously been misled by a job opportunity in Cambodia and suspected of being controlled by a human trafficking syndicate.

After receiving reports, the Qing Shui Police Station in Taichung City promptly notified the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant units. The International Criminal Police Division of the Criminal Investigation Bureau quickly grasped the situation and collaborated closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' overseas missions and the bureau's liaison teams in Thailand and Ho Chi Minh City to trace the victims' movements.

Thanks to the efforts of families and various parties, the two victims managed to leave the scam area on the 6th and returned safely to Taiwan on the 7th. Police have since taken them back to create a statement to clarify recruitment methods within the country and the operations of overseas criminal groups.

According to police investigations, the two students, surnamed Lin and Li, saw a recruitment advertisement for work in Cambodia on Threads in March of this year. After arriving there, they were suspected of being controlled by a scam group. Family members reported to the police on the 5th and 6th of this month, and under the efforts of various units, they quickly escaped from the scam area yesterday and returned home today.

The police remind the public to remain vigilant against unreasonable high salary ads or all-inclusive overseas job recruitment messages, especially as summer vacation approaches—timing that coincides with peaks in travel and job seeking—which requires students to be particularly cautious to avoid falling into the trap of human trafficking due to momentary carelessness.
