President Meets Awardees from the Chinese Institute of Engineers to Foster a Smarter and Sustainable Taiwan

On the afternoon of the 6th, President Lai Ching-te met with awardees from the Chinese Institute of Engineers 114th Annual Awards, emphasizing that the expertise of engineers is a vital driving force for national progress. He expressed gratitude for their dedication, praising them as role models for younger generations, and hopes for continued collaboration with the government to create a safer, smarter, and more sustainable Taiwan.
During his remarks, the President stated that today is Engineers' Day and he feels honored to gather with everyone at the Presidential Office. He extended sincere congratulations to the new fellows and award-winning engineers, and expressed appreciation for their long-term contributions to national development, highlighting their efforts in infrastructure, technological innovation, and promoting net-zero sustainability, making Taiwan a better place to live.
The President also acknowledged the efforts of Chairman Yang Tsung-hsing in promoting international cooperation within the engineering community, allowing Taiwan’s engineering sector to showcase its capabilities globally. The new fellows, such as Professor Wang Li-chun and Professor Li Ching-ting, have achieved significant excellence in their fields and were recognized among the top scientists by Stanford University in the USA.
He thanked all the fellows for their contributions to society and congratulated the outstanding engineers and young engineers of this year, stating that they are the elites who have tirelessly worked in their professional fields. As the government drives various policies in the future, he hopes to receive their support and assistance for achieving the shared goal of net-zero transition and addressing the sustainable development responsibility.
