Truth Behind Viral Indian Aviation Crash Video: Actual Footage from 2023 Nepal Incident

A Boeing 787-7 Dreamliner operated by Air India tragically crashed just 30 seconds after takeoff from Ahmedabad in western India on the 12th, resulting in over 200 fatalities and only one miraculous survivor. Following the incident, a video allegedly showing "cockpit footage before the crash" went viral on social media. However, a fact-checking center has discovered that this footage has been circulating on the internet since 2023 and is not related to this incident.
The fact-checking center pointed out that the circulated video actually depicts a 2023 aviation accident in Nepal. According to Indian media outlet Aaj Tak, this incident occurred in January 2023 when a flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara crashed. Comparisons revealed that the footage accompanying the report was consistent with the circulated video, confirming that it is indeed from the Nepali aviation disaster.
Additionally, the Indian media outlet Boom had fact-checked this footage back in 2023, reporting that on January 15, 2023, a Yeti Airlines flight destined for Pokhara crashed, and passenger Sonu Jaiswal captured the cabin footage during a Facebook live broadcast shortly before the crash. This video gained widespread circulation online at that time.
The fact-checking center emphasized that this video has been widely shared internationally, with multiple international fact-checking organizations, including India Today, Newschecker, and Snopes, releasing verification reports stating that the footage claimed to be from the Air India crash is actually from the 2023 Nepali aviation incident.
