Support for Wang Hongwei's Recall Leads to Warning Calls: Liu Bojun Reveals Anger Over Incident

Former non-resident ambassador Liu Bojun, along with the recall group 'Shan Chu Wei Hai', campaigned at Songjiang Market in Taipei yesterday, urging the public to support the recall. However, it was reported that a vendor called Liu's mother the previous night, demanding the recall group not enter the market, which Liu criticized as a 'despicable tactic'. During a forum program that night, Liu recounted the incident, expressing that the most infuriating part was 'her mother being targeted', questioning what her family might face if the recall fails.
Liu had previously warned the vendor who threatened her mother that she would reveal their identity unless they apologized, but she seemed to have calmed down by today, sharing the full story in the program. She noted that the vendor's wife had a good relationship with her mother in the past, and that their stall is now run by their daughter. Liu expressed concern that revealing the vendor's identity might affect their business, hence leaving them an option to retract. Regarding whether the vendor had called to apologize, she stated, 'I still need to confirm with my mother'. Liu further pointed out that the most intolerable aspect of this incident was 'her mother being targeted'. She questioned how such actions could occur when there's a right to recall a Kuomintang legislator, expressing fear of what might happen to her family if the recall effort were to fail and society became less free and democratic.
