DPP Pushes for Recall of 5 KMT Legislators as Su Chiao-hui Outlines Strategic Goals

According to reports from the immediate news center, the Central Election Commission announced yesterday (20th) that the recall of five KMT legislators from New Taipei would take place on July 26. Today (21st), DPP New Taipei City Party Chair Su Chiao-hui immediately coordinated with the party central to mobilize non-recall district legislators to support the recall district, leading a group of 20 local officials to launch the first wave of street speeches at 13 locations.
They will proceed to Tamsui to hold the second 'Support Taiwan Grassroots Work Conference' alongside New Taipei City Councilor Cheng Yu-en, National Policy Advisor Lu Tzu-chang, and representatives of civic groups to consolidate grassroots efforts and focus on a three-stage strategy. Su Chiao-hui urged everyone to “1+1,” meaning one person brings in one vote, and to synchronize with civic groups through online materials, physical publicity, and organizational mobilization.
She emphasized that this recall action initiated by civic groups is not a party struggle but a battle over the future direction of Taiwan. She criticized KMT legislators for undermining Taiwan's constitutional order over the past year and a half, pushing various pro-China bills that seek to diminish Taiwan's sovereignty and weaken its self-defense capabilities, and even trying to transfer national security control to the Legislative Yuan, actions that have enraged the public.
Su Chiao-hui strongly urged citizens to come out and vote on July 26 to recall the incompetent KMT legislators and restore order in the Legislative Yuan while protecting Taiwan. Following Banqiao and Tamsui, the New Taipei City Party will continue to hold grassroots work meetings in Shuanghe, Linkou, and Xizhi to help more citizens understand the upcoming strategic phases and recruit more people into the 'Protect Taiwan Volunteer Team' to work alongside civic groups.
New Taipei City Councilor Cheng Yu-en stated that KMT legislators are abusing their numerical advantage to hijack the Legislative Yuan, turning it into a rubber stamp for the KMT and the opposition party. Many controversial bills are being rushed through without substantial discussion, violating democratic principles. She urged the public to turn out and vote on July 26 to show KMT legislators the anger of the people and safeguard Taiwan's democracy.
